One Massive Mistake That Muddles Your Communication
|December 3, 2012||Filled under Clarity, Communication Skills, Public Speaking||
One of the greatest barriers to clear communication is sending mixed messages.
When your body language and/or your vocal expression sends a message that contradicts the words you are speaking, your communication lacks clarity. When what you intend to communicate is not in alignment with what your voice and body are actually communicating, you are sending mixed messages.
When you send mixed messages, people don’t understand you. They don’t know how to respond to you; they don’t know what you want. You don’t get the results you desire or need.
If you want people to be crystal clear about your message you must align your expression—both physical and vocal–with the intention of your message.
Most people are unaware that their communication is out of alignment and they are sending mixed messages. All they know is that they are not getting the results they desire: people aren’t listening, people aren’t understanding, people aren’t responding to their message.
