Always Accept a Compliment Graciously

When someone offers you a compliment–whether it’s for your delicious home made cranberry sauce or the way you handled yourself with a difficult client–always accept it graciously. A simple, sincere “Thank you” delivered with a smile is all that is needed.
When you say “it was nothing” or respond with all the reasons you were NOT as good as you could have been, you not only diminish yourself and your work, you are essentially telling your complimenter that they have bad judgement.
Graciously accepting a compliment acknowledges and affirms the giver’s feelings, judgement and response to you.
Graciously accepting a compliment projects confidence to others.
Graciously accepting a compliment allows you to fully receive it, and builds your internal confidence.
Remember, a simple, sincere “Thank you” delivered with a smile is all that is needed.
